This is moment we’ve all been waiting for… and we wouldn’t be here without your generous support! Please join us for the inaugural Pop-Up Playground event as part of the Twelve Days of Wellness Del Ray! Here is our schedule:
“Falls, with or without injury, also carry a heavy quality of life impact. A growing number of older adults fear falling and, as a result, limit their activities and social engagements. This can result in further physical decline, depression, social isolation, and feelings of helplessness. The most profound effect of falling is the loss of independent living.” (Comfortkeepers.com)
^^^ This is why we do what we do!!! Today we had a wonderful PK Silver class with our friends at the Charles Houston Senior Center. 💖 We are excited to be working with this fun & lively group to build strength and practice balance!
Some of the participant feedback:
“I loved it! I want to do it again!”
“I did not know what to expect, but now that I know what it is, I like it and want to do it again.”
“That was fun!”
“I didn’t think I could balance [on the precision trainer] but I did it!”
PK is an abbreviation for the word parkour. Hence our name, PK Move. Parkour is a French word which could be translated as “obstacle course running.” Our definition? Parkour is moving through your environment in a fluid, efficient manner. This month, we are telling you why we love parkour. Listen to PK Silver participant Colin. He says, “This is fun. It’s outdoors. And it’s good for you.”
… it is worth going because you get to meet so many AMAZING individuals! Even though we’d rather be out playing parkour with YOU, we must keep making new contacts and partnerships, explore opportunities, promote awareness of our services and keep critical financial & community support coming in! This week we had several great meetings. We got up to speed on disrupting the status quo in senior care/services with journalist Meg LaPorte and also learned about Spring2Action fundraising with ACT in Alexandria and Razoo Giving. We met boatloads of wonderful people who are doing the most important work right here in our community and the wider DMV.
